We had the buffet. The fried chicken and mashed potatoes were the best I have ever had. The bread is made on site as well as the coconut cake and cherry pie. There are many items for sale as well as a gift shop.

Everything is homemade and fresh and great price for the buffet. It's bustling and busy inside so not a lot of time for the servers to hang and chat - they get people in and get people out.

Come for the breakfast buffet! It was so good, so fresh and a huge selection and multiples of dishes so it's always full. I would want to travel back just to come here. Also great service and the store in the front has baked goods and the cinnamon rolls did not disappoint.

What a phenomenally special place... I expected this restaurant to be along the size of Yoders, but it turned out to be a massive banquet facility, bakery, gift shop, restaurant, and buffet all under a large roof. What a surprise. What was more of a surprise was the overall experience - service was so personable and friendly, the food was better than what you find at your normal buffet fare, and the ambiance was family friendly and warm. We got there at a time when it was busy for dinner - had to wait a bit to get seated, but once we did, we were able to get to eating relatively quick. I will mention our service was notably slow, but still, efficient enough that it wasn't a problem. There was so much to choose from at the buffet table that I did not try it all, as I made sure to save room for plenty of desserts. The whole meal is low-priced, under $20, and it was well worth the wait...

We were in Sarasota looking at some items for our home. It was decided that we should have lunch since it was approaching Noon. We have a number of usual locations that we normally try, but this time we decided to give Der Dutchman on Bahia Vista a try. On occasions in the past we attempted to eat here but the line seemed too long. This time we were seated quickly and the server was promptly at the table wanting to know what we wanted to drink and provided menus. Given all we had heard about the buffet at Der Dutchman we decided to give it a try. The selections are extensive and we tried numerous items. It turned out that all of the choices we made were enjoyed. If you are looking for home cooked country meals, this is the place to go. You will enjoy your meal.

If you're looking for authentic Amish comfort food at an amazing value, Der Dutchman is the place to go. Their all-you-can-eat dinner buffet is only $18.99, and it's worth it. I started with their salad bar, which was loaded with fresh vegetables and a variety of salads. From there, I moved on to the dinner options and filled my plate with turkey, ham, slow-roasted beef, and broasted chicken (similar to fried chicken). Every single item was absolutely delicious. The side dishes were just as impressive--mashed potatoes, creamed corn, noodles, and green beans were all cooked to perfection. To top it off, dessert was included. It was a chocolate sheet cake with rich chocolate icing. That's how I like to end my meal. If you're hungry for hearty, homemade food, Der Dutchman is a must-visit.
